Shipping—What you need to know.

What is shipping? A ‘ship’ when used in this blog is not your ordinary aquatic vehicle but rather a relationship might it be platonic, romantic, or a sibling relationship.

In this blog we’ll cover all three with Chatte Bleu focusing on the canon ships, and me (Violet the Shipper) focusing on the fanon (meaning fandom-made) ships.

What is a canon ship, you may be wondering? "Canon" is described in the Urban Dictionary as "official" so you might as well call a canon ship an "official ship." This means that this ship has been made official by the TV show, book series, movie, etc. A fanon ship, however, as I mentioned above is a fan-made (or fandom-made) ship. Fanon is "the collection of ideas that are normally used in fan fiction, but don't really exist in the story's canon.

Now, let's discuss the difference between platonic, romantic, or sibling ships, might they be canon or fanon.

Platonic: A friendly and affectionate—but not romantic— ship usually best seen between best friends. Example: Alya and Marinette or Adrien and Nino.

Romantic: A romantic ship, like wife-husband, boyfriend-girlfriend, etc.

Example: Alya and Nino.

Sibling: A sibling ship. Not really much to say here!

Example: Juleka and Luka.
